AFRO-FUSION WITH MICHELE BAER
This workshop explores and fuses movements from African Diaspora and American urban dance traditions while also engaging students in a conversation on the embodiment of coolness, spirituality, and heritage. Students will be challenged to be grounded, rhythmic, athletic, and powerful in their dancing. The workshop will consist of a warm-up, foundational phrases across the floor, and a short choreography that fuses African and urban dance styles (in particular: Guinean, Malian, Afro-Brazilian, reggae, hip hop, and house dance). People with an interest in fusion choreography, multicultural dance traditions, and having fun while working hard will definitely find a home in this class.
